What is health literacy?

Health literacy refers to the knowledge you need so you can understand, and use information to make health decisions for yourself  and your loved ones. Ask yourself, how much do you know about your health? How much do you know about healthy lifestyles? How does your knowledge affects your decisions, you habits, your health?

Nine out of 10 adults struggle to understand and use health information (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2021)According to the CDC, low health literacy has become a national public health issue. The costs of limited health literacy are reflected in monetary losses and high morbidity and mortality rate
